ITANAGAR, Jan 18: Directorate of Field Publicity, Tawang unit organized a series of awareness campaign on health and family welfare at Kitpi, Khartot, Bomdir and Namet on Janyary 14, 15, 16 and 18 respectively.
The programmes were organized in close coordination with the village panchayats, anganwadi workers, ASHAs, health department, Pragya and school authorities.

During the team’s visit, the ANYA members held meeting with the Raga ADC and discussed on various problems relating to public.

ITANAGAR, Jan 18: Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner has directed all the teachers, who are currently on pen down strike, to resume their duties immediately. Disregard of the direction would invite disciplinary action against them as per CCS Rules, the order said.
The order has been issued in view of the pen down strike which has adversely affected the academic studies of the students.

Orientation training for farmers’ club begins
ITANAGAR, Jan 18: NN Charitable Society (NNCS) under the sponsorship of NABARD Regional Office Itanagar is conducting a week long Orientation Training Programme (OTP) under Farmer’s Club Programme for the benefits of Six Farmers Club of the Pistana Circle under Lower Subansiri Districts of Arunachal Pradesh from today.
The programme is being conducted to impart need based training to the rural farmers related to crop production to boost the economic status of the farmers.

The ILP is an official travel document issued to Indian citizens who want to visit "protected/restricted areas or states" like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland and Mizoram.
It is obligatory for Indian citizens from outside those States to obtain permit for entering into the protected State.

He also said that in case of international visitors also efforts are on to simply procedures.
"As far as the foreign tourists are concerned, the state has the Protected Area Permit (PAP) and as a department we have simplified the procedure. Now even two foreign tourists can apply for the PAP and I being the issuing authority made it sure that it is issued on the same day and no inconvenience is caused to the visitors," Chombay said.
Generally, for securing PAP, tourists must travel in groups of at least four people together.
Chombay said that tourism is a priority sector and Arunachal is looking forward to give a big boost to the sector after the International Tourism Mart which begins here today.
Manipur tourism commissioner Dr Rajesh Kumar cited the success of Sanghai Festival, use of IT and social media to popularise tourism in a massive way.
Pointing out that Manipur is a safe state without any PAP, he advocated fusion of ideas and interlinking state festivals to woo global tourists through the effective tool of IT.

Responding to a question from this editor why not the MoT secretary weaves a ‘NEST’ (North East Secretaries of Tourism) as a forum as has been advocated by Arunachal tourism secretary Sonam Chombay and in different words by his Assam and Manipur counterparts, Dewan accepted it as a very good suggestion to be taken up in the ministry internally.
Appreciating the idea, MoT additional secretary Girish Shankar said a national tourism advisory council of the ministry is in place at zonal level but regional council would be formed to incorporate the idea.

Having said and done so, it has become crucial that the education system is overhauled and completely so that the objective is achieved. With a national average per capita income of $ 1,527 in 2011 but with an estimated 32.7% of the total Indian people falling below the international poverty line of US$ 1.25 per day (PPP) while 68.7% live on less than US$ 2 per day (World Bank Report), clearly indicating the gross disparity between the rich and poor, and other factors like shortage of qualified and competent experts at various levels of the social and economic system; the existing arrangements for the production of experts not being adequate enough to address the shortage of qualified and competent teachers in teachers’ colleges, secondary and primary schools; the access to quality education being highly compartmentalized; the need to expand enrolment in higher education institutions through a combination of various alternative and innovative systems of education; and the use of Information and Communication (ICT) as a tool to improve access and the quality of delivery of education and training at all levels, the task ahead is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible.

only become popular and the only means of education in most of the Third World countries
but also revolutionized the education system as a whole. While there are many critics
of the system, some even calling it inferior to the conventional system, the dynamics
of the times we are living in has made it almost certain that the ODL system has
become imperative as an alternative educational system and in no way lesser or sub-
All trained educationists will agree that education is not just about literacy and illiteracy or to enrich statistics about a society jumping from this per cent of illiteracy to that percentage. Education is about creating human resources of various forms to fit them into the diverse requirements of society. Education is helping a person to grow into a useful member of society. The educational system should be structured in such a way that we create persons specific to our needs for progress, development and harmony. When these principles are not adhered to we are creating persons whose education becomes his or her undoing to the detriment of society.

It is catering to the needs of an individual and the collective needs of society. It is an opportunity that has to be harnessed and not a tool for academic, bureaucratic and political jingoism. Democratizing education has been one of the most important features of the ODL system. We cannot boast of our ‘democracy’ when we cannot deliver what it promises. Education is a fundamental right and perhaps it is time that we seek all the channels available to give equal, quality, free and compulsory education to our children. People in developed countries are already developing the ODL system into the ‘virtual’ mode. The policy makers will be making a big mistake if the opportunity is not made use of from the very beginning. While we would be groping in kilobytes, others would be working on petabyte mechanicals. Going by the trend in education in vogue today, it may not be long when all existing educational institutes become either obsolete or have to embrace the new revolution in education affairs. BJP flays Centre for diesel price hike
ITANAGAR, Jan 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh has strongly condemned the Centre’s decision to allow oil marketing companies to hike diesel prices from time to time which will have cascading effect on the prices of various essential commodities and goods in the local markets.
“It seems the Congress led UPA government is concerned about the welfare of the corporate sectors. The Government, instead of providing relief, is increasing prices, BJP general secretary and spokesperson Tai Tagak said in a release.
The UPA government has partially deregulated diesel prices by announcing that the price of the fuel would be decided by oil marketing companies. Indian Oil Corporation announced an increase of 45 paise per litre in the price of diesel late Thursday evening effective midnight.

Diabetes in India
According to a recent report of the International Diabetes Federation India has 6.13 crore people living with diabetes, second only to China. Nearly 60 per cent of diabetics in India have never been screened or diagnosed due to lack of awareness. IDF shows that a staggering 62.6 per cent of the people in India are not even aware about the complications of the disease. By 2030, India's diabetes burden is expected to cross the 100 million mark as against 87 million earlier estimated. China has 90 million people suffering from diabetes in 2011 and is expected to touch the figure of about 130 million by the year 2030.
Such a high numbers of undiagnosed cases means people are putting their lives at risk from diabetes complications such as nerve disease, which can lead to ulceration and amputation of limbs. This spread of awareness will empower them to defeat diabetes through prevention and management, an expert feels.
Diabetes over a long term affects all organs of the body and is linked to heart attacks, stroke, some cancers and several infections, said Prof K Srinath Reddy, President of the Public Health Foundation of India. He said despite all the good intent, India’s national programme on diabetes has not progressed and can claim only limited success to its credit, which is why there is a need to explore innovative models for tackling this disease.

Through your daily I would like to share my experience regarding the lackadaisical attitude of state Govt towards the DRDA employees. It is quite disheartening to know that the absorption file of DRDA borne employees has been returned despite centre directing state govt to absorb the DRDA employees. I have no idea why the state Govt, treats DRDA employees step motherly? It is worth mentioning here that there are severe problems in salary matters. It is also learnt that in some district the employees of DRDA are not getting salary for more than last five months. Despite such difficulty the employees of DRDA are performing their duty whole heartedly and sincerely keeping in mind the interest of public welfare. Moreover, the employees of DRDA have never launched any democratic movement against the state govt, for failing to solve the mess of DRDA. The employees of DRDA have full faith on Govt, but now faith and trust on govt is completely vanishing as a result of way present state govt has responded to our problem.
“Jab barosa hoke betney Se Koch nahi hota aur Jab strike karne se bolta hai strike karta hai”. We have waited many years to get justice but now this time, we have no option but to launch democratic movement against the state govt. Is state govt testing the patients of DRDA staffs? I would like to ask a question to people friendly govt are you instigating DRDA employees to launch a democratic movement?
Lastly, I would like to request people friendly Govt, to reconsidered its decision and solve the problem of DRDA employees to avoid a democratic movement.
